I have a one year old pure bred shiba inu rescue. I got her 6 months ago when she was much younger. When she first came home, she was completely housebroken and almost NEVER used a wee wee pad indoors-as soon as we would go for walks she knew that it was time to get busy. But now slowly but surely she’s gone back to not wanting to use the potty outside anymore. When we go outside now, all she wants to do is play, play, play and forget that its time to potty. We can be outside for 30 minutes, and its completely play time for her. But as soon as we go back inside the house, she will rest for about 5 minutes and go right back to the wee wee pad and use the potty inside. How can i make this stop??? Its driving me nuts!!!
You need to re-train her like you would a young puppy. Biggest difference is that she’s an adult with full bladder control and already has an idea what to do. You need to keep an eye on her in the house. As soon as she gives a signal that she needs to pee (and they all have signals, some are subtle, it’s up to you to recognize them), take her out. You have to go out with her, tell her "go pee", lots of praise the second she pees, then come right back in. This way she’ll learn to differentiate between play time outside and pee time.

Be consistent in going out with her and praising until she gets the hang of it. What you now are doing is replacing her old habit with a new one. Shouldn’t take long to turn her around if you’re very vigilant for a few days.

If she was completely housebroken 6 months ago why did you use wee wee pads? By using them you lost her house training by encouraging her to pee in the house. Get rid of any urine odor in the house and go back to basic house training by crating her when you can’t watch her and let her out at regular intervals and after meals and naps and praise her for pottying outside.
