Police dog training – New recruits…
06 Mar 2010
Harry and Hermione are the youngest and newest recruits to Avon and Somerset Police Dog Section.
The Belgian Malinois puppies, who are brother and sister, joined the section at just seven weeks old in April 2008.
This breed of dog is very smart and obedient and the puppies will be trained to become fully operational police dogs, performing duties such as locating vulnerable missing persons, searching and detaining offenders of crime, and crowd control.
Pupils of Victoria Park Community in Bristol adopted the puppies and officially christened them Harry and Hermione after the Harry Potter characters.

You can track the progress of their development via their own dog blog which is updated on a monthly basis. Log onto www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/dogs to find out more.
